Worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in laboratory of Dr. George Miller. Major projects involved the study of a novel C-type lectin receptor, Mincle, in the setting of sterile inflammation including sepsis and autoimmune hepatitis. Also studied the effect of TGF-β of pancreatic cancer cachexia.
2009 - 2010
Columbia University Medical Center - New York, NY
Worked as research fellow in the Center for Orthopaedic Research under mentor Dr. William N. Levine. Major project involved data collection and analysis of functional outcomes in a large multicenter prospective trial on total shoulder replacement. Developed IRB for a clinical trial involving two different techniques for total shoulder arthroplasty. Also participated in basic science projects including the evaluation of a biphasic scaffold to enhance soft tissue healing to bone.
2006
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School - New Brunswick, NJ
Worked as a summer research assistant in the Orthopaedic Research Lab with mentor Charles J. Gatt, Jr., MD (Chief of Orthopaedic Service). Project assessed the effect of autologous growth factors developed within a platelet-rich plasma matrix on tendon healing, using a model of the patellar tendon in New Zealand white rabbits.
2002 - 2004
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center - New York, NY
Worked as a summer employee in the Orthopaedic Research Lab with mentors John H. Healey, MD (Chief of Orthopaedic Service) and Gene R. DiResta, PhD. Participated in several projects, including the development of a drug-laden allograft. Major project studied the use of HPLC to evaluate the effectiveness of a new method of chemotherapeutic drug delivery to target sites in bone via a drug-containing bone cement for patients with prostheses; specifically the quantification of pamidronate in canine bone.
